Mudgeeraba Special School is a state school for special students with a diagnosed intellectual impairment and secondary impairments including vision, hearing, physical and Autism disorders.
Our school prides itself on relationships as being the key to each child achieving our vision of “Happiness through Achievement”. Our school is a great school with well-trained experienced staff who meet the diverse needs of the students very well. Mudgeeraba Special School has won a number of state awards and a national award for excellence. It is a student focussed school that strives to develop independent citizens.
Our teaching staff are committed to assisting every child reach full potential and to provide learning experiences that increase our pedagogical principles of access, engagement, participation and advocacy. We pride our school on being a lighthouse for specialised programming in communication, Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience (MOVE) and senior schooling practices.
The school has a strong focus on the use of technology with every classroom having an interactive whiteboard, a range of voice adaptive devices, assistive technology and computers. The introduction of our school-developed Multiliteracy Policy 2009 has provided a strong philosophical framework for all our students to access communication, functional literacy and numeracy resources at their level and to match their interests with their receptive, expressive and comprehension levels.
