Burwood East Primary School has a long and proven history in education. For almost one and a half centuries the school has provided a caring learning environment for the children of the area.
Established in 1861, Burwood East Primary School is one of Victoria's oldest schools, located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, approximately 15 kilometres from the city centre. The school currently has a population of 170 students. The school comprises of: a main building incorporating nine classrooms, automated resource library, multi-purpose room, administration centre, canteen and a Reading Recovery centre; a smaller wing with five classrooms and an art and craft centre; and two free standing classrooms. The buildings underwent a refurbishment in 1996, which has given the pupils, staff, and parents a revitalized learning environment. The school grounds include three separate, modern adventure playgrounds - two of which have shade cloth sun protection, basketball courts and an oval with cricket pitch, cricket nets and football posts. Garden beds are planted with Australian native plants, and many mature trees provide shade to assist sun protection.
Burwood East Primary School places great emphasis upon establishing solid foundations for the future through a supportive environment promoting positive self-esteem and self-confidence. Students are encouraged to maximize their potential in all areas of the curriculum.
Welcome to Burwood East Primary School one of the popular educators in your Burwood East area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
