Education Gold Coast introduces Fremantle Language Development Centre in Willagee, for all your education and learning needs.
The Fremantle Language Development Centre (FLDC) is a school for children from Kindergarten to year 3 who have a severe language disability/delay. It provides specialised language and academic intervention on an individual and small group basis. The school caters for 200 students who have been identified as having at least average intelligence but whose academic and social performance is seriously limited by disordered speech and language development.
Referral
Identical referral procedures and standard reporting formats apply to all Language Development Centres. Both a speech pathology assessment and a psychological assessment are required as well as a teacher questionnaire where appropriate.
The referral process is through District Education Office Panels. A parent, teacher, principal, school psychologist or speech pathologist may initiate the referral process. The panel will consider the needs of each student and recommend the level of support to be provided. With parent consent, it will refer students with the greatest needs and who meet Language Development Centre entrance criteria to the Language Development Centre.
Placement
The Fremantle Language Development Centre provides for both Kindergarten and Pre-Primary children and from Years 1 to 3 in the Primary School.
The duration of attendance depends on each individual child, the progress made and the appropriateness of placement. Every student is reviewed on a continuing basis and students may remain at the Language Development Centre from one to five years.
Welcome to Fremantle Language Development Centre one of the popular educators in your Willagee area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
