Education Gold Coast introduces Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart School in Thursday Island, for all your education and learning needs.
The first Catholic School on Thursday Island (TI) was built around 1900, on the present site of the Sacred Heart Mission Hall. The school was staffed by the French missionary order the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Sisters.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is a learning community in a state of renewal, energised by both the legacy of its past and the challenges of the present. The school strives to provide a broad meaningful education in the context of Torres Strait Culture within a Catholic framework.
Today the school is one of the Cairns Diocese systemic schools. Most students on Thursday Island walk or ride bicycles to the Thursday Campus. Students at the TI campus in years 4-7 who live on Hammond Island travel to TI via the school ferry which takes approximately 20 minutes each way.
Welcome to Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart School one of the popular educators in your Thursday Island area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
