Birkdale State School caters for students from Prep to Year 7. The Principal is Mr Steve Logan, who is supported by Deputy Principal Miss Marie Brinckman, Teacher in Charge Special Education Program Miss Marion Parr-Smith along with teachers who are creative, caring and committed to the holistic education of all Birkdale students.

Sport, music and leadership education are distinguishing features of our school. We offer a wide range of sports to our students and encourage excellence in this area. Instrumental music instruction is available in brass, woodwind, percussion and strings, and the school has several successful bands and ensembles. Leadership skills are fostered through School Captainship, House Leadership positions, the Peacekeeper program and the Student Council.
The school boasts excellent facilities – multi-purpose hall, swimming pool, multi-purpose courts, two large ovals with covered adventure playgrounds, music centre, arts/technology building, dental clinic, outsideschool care and a well resourced library with mini computer lab. All this is set amongst tropical landscaping.
